21st Rivest Family Reunion Weekend July 18th – 20th, 2003 Greetings everyone!! It’s time to mark your calendars, make your reservations, gather your photos and start packing!!! The 21st Rivest Family Reunion will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at Blish Memorial Park in Marlborough, Connecticut. The park offers lake swimming, volleyball, tennis and horseshoes, in addition to a large pavilion where we will gather for the reunion and our cribbage tournament. Hotel Information We have a block of rooms being held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 50 Morgan Street, Hartford, CT 06120 which has easy access to the highway and is only a short distance from the park. Reservations can by made by phone (860) 549-2400 or online at www.sixcontinentshotels.com – Type Hartford, CT and the Crowne Plaza will be displayed. Click on RATES and you will find yourself at the Online Reservation Desk. Fill in the dates (7/18 and 7/19). Under Optional Information, type Rivest Family Reunion and RFR for our group booking code. When you type in the group booking code, reunion room options will be displayed and you can make your reservations. Reservation must be made by April 30th, 2003 in order to receive our group rate.The rate should be $79.00 for a room with either 1 king or 2 double beds. Smoking/Non Smoking rooms are available on alternating floors. The hotel offers secured overnight parking ($6.00/night), an outdoor pool and a full service restaurant and lounge. Friday Evening Arrival Drop in to the Rivest Family Reunion Hospitality Room once you are settled into your hotel room. We’ll have the opportunity to visit, share photos from previous reunions and play cards. Don’t forget your cards and cribbage boards! Saturday Morning Group Tour 9:30 AM We are planning a combined tour of the Mark Twain House and the Harriet Beecher Stowe House as our group activity. The Mark Twain House is a 19-room, Tiffany-decorated mansion where Mark Twain raised his family and worked from 1874 to 1891. During this period, Twain created his classic works The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court. Directly adjacent to the Twain House is the Harriet Beecher Stowe House. The Stowe House provides an intimate glimpse into the life of Harriet Beecher Stowe, the author of Uncle Tom's Cabin. *Please note: The Harriet Beecher Stowe House is NOT handicapped accessible. Saturday Reunion Information Reunion festivities will begin at Blish Memorial Park in Marlborough, CT at 12:00 noon. We will plan to eat around 1:00 pm. The meal will include a variety of hot and cold foods, salads, desserts and snacks. Please bring your own beverages. No glass containers please. Sunday Morning Brunch Please join us for a farewell brunch Sunday beginning at 8:00 am, at the home of Denise & Luther Weeks in Glastonbury, CT. a short distance from the Crowne Plaza Hotel. We will be serving waffles and pancakes, bacon, assorted pastries, bagels, cold cereal, fresh fruit, milk, juices, tea and coffee.

Saturday, July 19th, 2003 9:00am Group Tour of the Mark Twain House & the Harriet Beecher Stowe House We will gather in the hotel lobby at 9:00am. Our group will be divided into two groups before leaving the hotel. At approximately 9:30am, Group #1 will begin touring the Mark Twain House while Group #2 tours the Harriet Beecher Stowe House. Each tour takes approximately one hour. At 10:30am, the groups will switch and tour the alternate house. We recommend carpooling, as parking is limited. See directions/map for the best driving route. Our tour should be completed by 11:30am. 12:00 noon-dusk 21st Rivest Family Reunion Picnic Blish Memorial Park, Marlborough Reunion festivities will begin at 12:00 noon. We will plan to eat at approximately 1:00pm. Please bring your own beverages and remember, glass containers are NOT permitted in the park. The park offers lake swimming, volleyball, tennis and horseshoes. Don’t forget to bring your cards and cribbage board! The Cribbage Tournament will begin at approximately 2:00pm. Saturday evening….If you’d like, grab a blanket and head down to Bushnell Park, (see map) for the Greater Hartford Jazz Festival. It’s free and what a wonderfully relaxing way to end the day. 8:00am Sunday Brunch We’ll begin serving brunch at 8:00am at the home of Denise & Luther Weeks, 123 Eastbury Hill, Glastonbury, CT (see directions). Stop by for breakfast and some last minute visiting before heading home. Thanks for joining us! Have a safe trip and we’ll see you next year! There are several area activities/attractions you may want to visit on your own.
